The Southland Presbytery, by eleven tofiyo, voted in favour of church union provided it did not undermine, tho principles or.interfere with the work of the Presbyterian Church. ST. JOHN'S FAVOURS THE UNION. At the annual meeting of St. John's Presbyterian Church last evening a resolution was carried as follows:—"That this meeting of St. John's congregation, Wellington, heartily approver of tho suggested union of tho Presbyterian, Methodist, and Congregational Churches, provided a basis m doctrine and policy adequate to tho needs of theso ' three churches, is framed by a combined oomfor final ratification or otherwise to the mitteo of these churches, and sent down subordinate judicatories Of the Presbyterian Churoh. This meeting further respectfully urges tho General Assembly, appointed to meet in Invercargill in November next, to take ouch steps as shall give effect to tho suggestion of this resolution." All present 'e.Tcept two voted in favour of the motion. A-BROOKLYN RESOLUTION. A meeting of members and adherents of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church lost night adopted tiho iollowiog resolution:— "Whilst confirming tho principle of church union generally, as it is considered to be :n accord with Now Testament teaching, this congregation is of opinion that denominatioial sentiment i? yet too strong to admit of the matter of union of tho throo cftrarches being consummated without, seriojsly affecting th; peace and harmony of members and adherents; this congregation rospectfully suggests that the matter be kept prominently' before the congregations concerned until it has been further matured, and that in the moantimo a federation.of the churches bo formed, at which all matters affecting tho Christian 'welfare of the community bo discussed with the object of deciding on common courses of action, tho matter of overlapping services in country districts to. receive speoialand sympathetic consideration."
