RULES FOR THE GERMANS
WHEN TO UNCOVER IN THE BRITISH ZOIsTJ. It may conceivably be worth while, in view of "the tender hearts of some of out MJ.'s and others (says the Cologne correspondent of the "Morning Post") to give the exact wording of tho regulations governing tho behaviour of male .Germans in tho British zone at the present moment. This "Anordnung," in <*ermnn and English, deals witti such matters as passes, identity cards, the carrying of arms and-ammunition, the sale of alcohol, mid the assembling of crowds in the streets. Article 19 runs ns followe(1) All persons of the male sex will show proper respect to British officers and to officers of the Allied forces, and when addressing or beinff addressed by them will raise their hats. Uniformed officials tvill always ealuto them. When the British National Anthem ie played civilians will romovo their hats and ptvsons in uniform ivijl salute. (2) All persons of the male Bex will pay respect to the regimental colours of the troop 3of tho Allied Power.? when oawded tincaaed. Uniformed officials will salute and civilians vrill raise their hats as tho Colours pass, As a fact, probably through mere ignorance, the regimental ej>lour3 are by no means invariably saluted, 'nor do civilians always romove their hate (unless assisted) when tho National Anthem 33 being played. . The order is not enforced with, a too rigorous severity, ona 1 havo nevor heard of any German complaining of its provisions &3 eiceptioually harsh.
