RETURNED SOLDIER, DROWNED
Hi TolceraDli—l'r'-s* Ansociatiou. Waitara, August i. A returned soldier named William Free, aged 36 and recently married, was discovered drowned in a dam with tl'rco feet of water in it. An inquest vill be held tomorrow.
DEATH OF,A CHILD. Dunedin, August 4. Jessio Tyon Mee, used seventeen months, died at Kaitangata yesteiua> from shock following injuries accidentally received through drinking caustic soda. MINER KILLED. Christchurch, August i. At Homebush- coal mine to-day John Penman, a miner, 3!) years of age, was killed bv a heavy fall.of stone from the root' of the galU'ry m which ho was working.
