HATAITAI HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
At a well-attended meeting of residents of Hataitai last night, it was decided to form a horticultural socioty. Tho chair,man of the mooting (Mr. H. W. Man) explained that tho society was affiliated to tho Hataitai Electors' Association, and tlio combined membership should encourago horticultural beautiflcation in the district. Tlio school grounds, clay banks, ami streets could bo beautified by planting trees and shrubs. Members could materially assist in this work. I'lic first show was to be held in December, and a schedule would be issued shortly.
The following officers were elected: — Patron, Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P.; president, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt; vice-presi-denbs, Messrs, Brott, Bayfeild, and Tolan; committeo, Mesdames Searle, Morcon, Kitching, Grceuslade, and Miss Morcon, and Alcssrs. Gnin't (chairman), Thorns, Foil, Jeffrey, GrecnslU; 111. :i. B. Lanksliear was elected secretary and Mr. J. L. Arcus treasurer.
