GOVERNMENT'S SURPLUS AVAR STORES. "Surplus," the new official organ of the Surplus Government Property Disposal Board, is drawn up in the best catalogue style. Tho 64 pages of tho first issue-publication will be fortnightly at 3d. a copy—are packed with descriptions of tho enormous surplus war stores which the Government are selling to manufacturers and traders. Tho data is classified in sections, and the intending purchaser can see at a glance whother any goods be reqnires are for sale by public auction or bv private tender, and in the former case flic locality and name of the auctioneer are givon. Twelve national factories and one nimo aro included in tho lands and factories section, and in each case full details of buildings and machinery are given. Items in the ferrous metal section' include: MOO tons of double length shell billets; 124,323 drawn weldless steel tubes; 299 air cylinders; 113,800 pieces of chain mail: hundreds of tank parts; and tons of hoop iron and tinplatos lying in various parts of tho country. In addition there are thousands of tons of factory stores, nails, screws, hammers, pickaxes, etc., thousands of horses am. acres of building materials of all kinds. There aro also to be sold scores of thousands of tons of foodstuffs of all icinds, the diversity of which may bo gathered from' the following samples:flurry powder, 53,0001b.; capers. 2480 bottles;'mixed spice. 74001b.; mixed herb?, 48001b.; salad oil. 9000 bottles; rerii'" essence, 4SIS bottles; anchovy essence, 520 bottles; salt. 100(1 lins; gelatine, 70001b.; Mi.-.tard powder, 25.7001b.; vermicelli, •10001b.; sweets, 451111b.; pearl barley, 81.8301b.; mace, 10321b.; ginger; 17801b.; nutmeg, 14131b.; cayenne. 5371b.: pimento, 10.0341b.; mixed seasonings, 19691b. _ The miscellaneous stores section is an extensive "lino." ranging from some hundreds of steel drums to periscopes, motor goggle oases, rum jars, razors, watches, clocks, balances and weights, barbed wiro, huge massos of furniture and lumber, otol, etc. , Tho aircraft section includes aeroplanes, seaplanes, flying boats, engines, and a multitude of' accessories.
