ANZAC DAY
NATIONAL HOLIDAY SUGGESTED. Sir James Allen stated on Saturday tliat the question of declaring Anzao Day a national holiday was'going |to be placed More a full meeting of Cabinet after the return to Wellington of Mr. Masscy and Sir Joseph Ward. The Government had received a great many representations on the subject, from lbs returned soldiers and others. The executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association asked tho Government to make Anzao Day a national holiday by statute, all places of amusement and hotels to be closed. Dr. Boxer, president of the association, suggested that Anzac Day might replaco Dominion Day, which' was a very much less important anniversary.
