Tho marriage took placo in Si. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Carterton, ■ last week of Miss Dolly M'Donald, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. M'Donald, of Carterton, to Trooper Gordon Thompson, of Auckland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, of Aberdeen, Scotland. Miss Isa M'Donald (chief) and Miss Mary Scott ivero bridosmaids, aud SergeantMajor Meerken and Trooper Maxwell, of Masterton, wero in attendance- uuon the bridegroom as best mau and' groomsman respectively.

The Rev. Ronald Miller, M.A., C.T., and Mrs. Miller were welcomed back to Mastertoa on Friday evening at a gather* ing held in Knox Hall. Also guests of honour wero Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Leslie, who are leaving for Wellington, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Gray, who aro taking up their residence in Napier very shortly. The Rev. G. T. Brown, as chairman, welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Miller, and spoke., of the former's services both as a soldier and later as a chaplain to the N.Z.E.F. On behalf of tliei cvongrogation, Mr. Brown presented Mr. and Mrs, Leslie with a set of fish carvers and a dessert set, and Mr. and Mrs. Gray with a sugar, cream and teapot service on a silver stand. Musical items wore given later in the evening, and after 6upper had been handed round tho gathering came to an end with the singing of "An Id Lang Syne" and the National Anthem, .

After spending twelvo months as manageress of the Wharepuni Club at.Hornohurck; sho rejoined tho Army Nursing Service, and ;has since been at Connaught Hospital, at Akershot. Miss A. B. Allan, who was previously matron-, of tho Waiapn Hospital, and formerly sister at tho Masterton Hospital, arrived in England in October, 1915, and was first stationed at tho Military Hospital at York. In 'April, 1016, sho went .to Mesopotamia, and served there. She has also served in India for nearly a year. On returning .to England sho was appointed to Queen Alexandra's Hospital at Millbank. She had been mentioned, in dispatches for Jier work in organising tho Rod Cross Hospital, at Bedford.

' At Brighton, England, on April 7, Sergeant E. Busing. N.frD.C., Christchurch-, was married to Sister Nina Ansenno, N.Z.A.N.S.

Mrs. Somerville, of Feilding, widow of Mr. Robert Somorvillo, died early on Friday morning at an advanced age. Tho deceased ISdy was married twice, her first, husband being Captain Thornhill, of the sGth Regiment of Infantry, and by tho first marriage there wero thrna daughters—Mrs. Hiubach (Marlborough, Mrs. Glasgow (California), and Mrs. H. S., Street (Feilding). Mrs. Somorvillo had lived in Feilding for twenty years.

The nurses who, under Miss Polden, went ovor to nurso influenza in Melbourne, are hoping to return eHiortly, states "Kai Tiaki." Their work in Melbourne is practically finished, but they are detained on account of strikes. Several of the nurses contracted the disease, but are all well now - .

Colonel and Mrs. Marshal Macdonald havo returned to Dunedin after being on war service in England for some time.

Owing to the generosity and thoughtfulness of a few Dunedin citizons, tho St. John Ambulance Association now havo a new motor ambulance said to bo the best in New Zealand. It was handed over to the association towards tho end of last week.

Feilding Notes. A very successful dance was given to (ho Girjs' Cltyb by the young men of Feilding as a wind-up to peace celebrations. The dance was so popular that a substantial sum was raiseel, and given to tho Soldiers' Club. A surprise party motored down to Mr. Neill's placo at Aoraugi last week, and had a most enjoyable itime. Among those present wero Misses Wa.vmouth, Woollan, Fitzherbert, Jone3, Atkinson, and Fetch, and Messrs. Waymouth, Fowler. Jouos, Le Cren, and others. On Thursday night a most enjoyable dance was by Mro. Parsons in her now home in North Eoad. Among the many'there wore Mesdamea M'Bcth, Short, Denner, Shannon, and Broad, Misses Waymouth, Shannon, Woollan, Fetch, Livesey, Jones, Kirton, and Atkinson., and Messrs. Short, M'Belh, Dernier, Shannon, Fowler, Green, Thompson, Jones, and others. Miss Bay, who has been away nursing at the front for some timo, has' returned to Feilding. Miss Whittou is the guc3t of Mrs. N. feundilaiids. A very jolly little danco was held in tho parish hall on Tuesday night by tho friends of Miiss Nice Bowater. ass a farewell in her honour. Miss Bower is leaving shortly for Taunianinui. Miss Haybittle is at present visiting Mrs. M'Nnb (Taumarunui).' Mr. and Mrs. Gunson 'Auckland) are the guests of Mr*. Ciosc.
