London, August 28. The bread subsidy is costing the Treasury J47.000.000 annually. Tho Government has now decided that it cannot be increased. If it is -necessary to increase bakers' wages the price must be raised above.uineponco a loaf. Hitherto the masters have refused to discuss an increase in wages or the question of. fewer hours, because the regulated prices' made it impossible, owing to constantsmall strikes.-Aus. N.Z.
