LEAVE US THE STARS

4 ■■' (A Poem to Mr. Marconi.) Leave us the stars—\ This world hath noise enough, Without the roar of Mare; Rob not the holy spaces of their calm Bring us no idle gossip of the spheres; Noi-'desecrate the psalm That, on atill nights, into our burdened) enrs Pours its mysterious balm. Soon shall the airship blot the rieing moon With vulgar flight'across the evening eky, In vain shall tortured ear and tortured eye Flee from, pursuit of each last silly tune. And each new fashion of deformity; Tn vain seek sanctuary On dawn-lf.isfed peaks of naaecended snows, Or in some isle the sea TTntli kept a secret from eternity, TTid in her bos Din like a lover'e roae. Leave us the stars! 0 wizard, let them be —Richard Lo Gallienne.
