WHAKATANE'S PROGRESS
BOROUGH LOAN PROPOSAL APPROVED. By TeleeraDh—Press Association. Whakatane, July 30. A meeting of ratepayers last evening unanimously approved of the borough loan proposal, totalling ,£70,500, inado up as , follows:—Roads, .£17,500; water, ,£25,000; electric light and power, ,£2-i,000; drainage, ,£WOO. The electric light is to be generated by water power, yielding a minimum of 200 h.p. The Mayor (Mr. P. Moore) promised to make Whakatane one of the best towns in. tho Dominion.
