ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. The Management Committee o£ the Wellington Football Association met last evening, Mr. W. Auld presiding. There were also present Mes-rs. 11. Gooder, A. E. Wells, C. Webster, H. Spolski, W. Duncan, H. .Hendry, H. Yeoman,. L. White, and A. Williams (secretary). Tlio Wellington' Football League wrote suggesting that the association put a match on the Basin Beserve on Saturday next as a curtain-raiser to the'Canter-bury-Wellington League .fixture. Tho letter communicated the information that the finance? of the league were not in a very nourishing condition and for that reason tho league would not- be ablo to offer a percentage of 'he gate, but in the event of the game being a success they were prepared to niako a donation to the association's funds. It was decided to notify the league that the association would arrange for a senior match between Brooklyn and Y.M.O.A. A 1 letter was received from tho Boys' Gordon Hall -Club, Christchurch, asking .the association to arrange a match between a fourth grade team and a similar grade learn representing a Wellington club. Failing a suitable club team, tho southern'club suggested that they would play any fourth grade team provided the players were under 18 years of age. As tho southern club was prepared to .send' its team to Wellington, it was decided to arrange for a match on August. 16, and to leave] details to the Boys' Sub-Com-mittee. ; ■" Tho Thorndon Club forwarded a protost against a certain Johusoiiville player who was alleged to bo over ago. It was decided to postpone action till receipt of evidence. The Fixture Sub-Committee reported op the progress of the following divisions from fourth grades downwards:—The fourth division will complete its first
round on Saturday next, and in the second round the division would be divided into two grades, namely, A nnd B. Tho A grade will consist of the six leading tenuis, mid tne remainder will comprise the B grade. This competition will close at the discretion of tho Management Committee. The fiflh A division competition will close on Saturday, when the two leading teams, Institute' and Y.M.C.A., will meet. The Charity Cup matches in this competition will commence on August 9. The second round of the. fifth B division is to commence on Saturday, and its .duration will tie controlled by the Management Committee. In the case of the sixth division, • August 9 will see the completion of two rounds, and it is proposed that the two lending teams will then play off. The seventh division has completed its first round, and the two leading teams, St. Anne's and Marist (N.) A, are to play off. The Charity Cup matches Jn this case will commence on August 9. The eighth division is in the same position as the [ sixth. The report was adopted. /
The council of the New Zealand Football Association has appointed Mr. F. O'Connell, of AVellington, who is a member of tho New Zealand Referees' Association, as referee of the Brown Shield match between Otago and Canterbury, to be played at English. Park, Christchurch.'t next Saturday.
