Tho conveyance to tlie markets ol dio products of essential industries of the Dominion is of vital importance to the wnnte community, whacher producers or consumers. Tens, or tnousands ol workers are dependent for their livelihood on sawmills, lactones, and manufactories continuing tneir operations at the presenc tune, It is incumbent on you to do your part in assisting to .maintain 'he industries and by every means in your power help to obviate unemployment. AUGUST 1, 1019, jevery person desirous ,of travelling by rail beyond the limits of tlie suburban area will require to satisfy the railway officer that the journey is imperative, and being undertaken for essential business purposes, the bona fides of which the ran way othecr. snail determine. , No person will be booked or permitted to join any train for travel beyond the suburban area unless and until tho railway authorities are satisfied as to the bona fides- ol tno c/rciimsiauoes anu '.nat the journey is necessary. ■ Single tickets only, will be issued. No ticket will be issued within 15 minutes of the time of tho departure of the train. No person, except passenger? who are in possession of tickets, will be permitted to enter on the platform. . • The number of carriages, to be run on any train will be strictly limited. Persons who desire to travel are recommended. to apply.to the railway authority the day beforo that on which they propose to make the journey. Tickets will in all cases bo issued subject to there being room on tho train. No undertaking, implied or otherwise, can be given to carry any passenger, by any particular train, or on any purlieular date. Passengers who are unablo' to travel on any one day will, as far as possible, be taken in turn on subsequent, dates; but no guarantee can be given as to tho interval that may necessarily elapse before tho accommodation can be provided. Any' porsons who purchase tickets for journeys which they are unable to undertake, owing to lack' of train iicconwiodntion, may obtain a refund of their fares oh presenting the ticket to tho office of issue. The restrictions on passenger traffic are bciiig imposed solely for-the-purpose of conserving coal, and to provide, as far as possible, for the conveyance of- essential goods traffic which cannot be dealt with under tho existing arrangements, owing to tho largo number of passengers who have continued to travel since tho coal-saving time-table was inaugurated on July 2, 1910. Investigation has shown that nearly 50 per cent, of the passengers at the present time travelling by trains consist of women and children. This class of- travel in the great majority of cases is not essential, and must bo stopped while the coal famine-' continues. BY ORDER. WELLINGTON GAS CO., LTD.
