SERMONS ON PROFITEERING
Sir,—Permit me .to say in reply to "Methodist" that I am not responsible .for what I am reported to have said, but only for what I did say. The person who supplied the report of my sermon must therefore be held responsible for the misquotation "The wealth is the Lord's and-the fulness thereol,. together with several other mistakes which ap-pearedinthesamerer^rt.-I^c.,
Sir,—l folt inclined, like "I\ Freezer, "to chortle" when I read the Rev. Chapman's so-called plain spoken sermon, delivered last .Sunday evening. He began by saying "It was quito right to make money honestly," and ended % predictin" all sorts of terrible fates tor the Capitalist, irrespective of how his money was made-honestly or otherwise. Does Air. Chapman realise to whom he was addressing his remarks? Let us remind him that he is in New Zealand, among a well-dressed, well-fed, and well-paid ela=s of people, and not among haltstarved, down-trodden folk. How ennobled many of his congregation must have felt, and with what a spirit ot meekness, and charity they niuso have bsen imbued, and- with what- love for their fellow-men! Let me say here that there is many a person dying without the knowledge of Uod. and surely our ministers would be .better emptoye* helping them than givingadiatr.be on , be sins of one particular «chon of 11 e community when all fall so short of what they should be.-I am, etc., c
