EX-PRESIDENT TAFT'S SIX RESERVATIONS. ". (Rec. July 30, 0.35 a.m'.) Washington, July 21. Ex-President Taft, who formerly advocated -jnreserved ratification of the League of Nations Covenant, now suggests six reservations: 1. On two years' notice the United States could cease to bo a member of the League without tho League passing judgment on whether the United States had fulfilled the Covenant obligations. 2. Self-governing colonies' and Dominions should not be represented on tho. League Council simultaneously with, the Mother Government. 3. The Council's functioning under Article X should be advisory only, each member being free to determine on the question of declaring war in its own way. i. Immigration, tariff,' and domestic questions should not be left to. the League for settlement. 5. The Monroe Doctrine should bo reserved for administration by.the United States. '" 0. The United States should-reserve the right to withdraw from the.League unconditionally at the end of ten years, or at least■ terminate its obligations—Aus,N.Z. Cable Assn.
