WAIRARAPA NOTES
Mrs. J. B. Henry left Masterton yesterday for ; Wellington, where she will join her husband, who has been appointed an inspector of the Bank of New Zealand.
The weekly meeting of the Claims Board of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association was held yesterday, Mr. G. G. Summerell presiding. Aoologies for absence were received from Messrs. Hugh Morrison and E. L. M'Laren, Two loansamounting to Xl3O were granted to Wairarapa. soldiers, and twenty-eight claims for temporary assistance were dealt with. The following soldiers returned to Masterton yesterday 'and were met at the .station by Mr. G. I?. Sykes, M.P., and the Municipal Baiid. which played them to the post office. Chaplain I!. Miller, Sergeant Whitehead, Corporal Young, and Private Irons. At the post office, in the unavoidable absence of the Mayor (Mr. W. H. Jackson), Mr. Sykes delivered a speech of welcome, after which the men wpre motored to their remective homes. Gunner Strang motored through from Wellington during tho afternoon.
