TROUBLE IN NORTH CHINA
RIVAL ARMIES CLASH By Teloirraoh—Press Association-Copyright (Rec. July 28, 10.-15 p.m.) New York, July 21. According to the Peking correspondent of the New York "Times" trouble is brewing on the northern border of China. The rival Chinese generals have quarrelled and their respective armies havo clashed at Jfirin. It is believed that Japanese troops are proceeding to the scene of hostilities to protect' Japanese lives and interests. The correspondent adds tlmt a Japanese army is marching to lirga' ostensibly for the purpose of resisting Semenoff's pan-Mongolian 'movement, but that their actual purpose is to subjugate tho Mongols.—Aus.-N.Z.
