Mills, an ox-Auckland {.eague player, also played in the forwards. Suburbs put up a good fight, but the defenco was very solid. Petone A had no difficulty in defeating their B team at Potone. Tho points gained for tho championship are as follow:—Athletic, 10; Petone A, 8| Suburbs, 6; Petone B, 0.
ATHLETIC (44) SUBURBS (5). Athletic played with the sun in their, favour in tlio first half. The early stages' were very oven, aud it was at once seen tho game was to be very the ball travelling up and down tho iield very quickly. Shortly afterwards passing' between Pollock, liorris, 13railIcy, Meares, and Evans let the last-named over. Morris converted. Another last loose rush saw Bradley score. Morns again converted. Shortly bcloro hnlf-timo l)a.wo broke away from a scrum and dnubled down and scored. On resuming sub' urbs attacked very strongly, but their efforts lacked finish, and Athletic beared. Suburbs returned and from a long loose forward rush Green scored near the posts. Sullivan con\crted. Athletic then assumed the unper hand, and Mcars, Pollock, _ Bradley, and Morris scored tries.. Morris and Mcars converting one each. Mr. C. Murphy was referee.
