FEMALE ACCUSED DISCHARGED. When the steamer Prinzessin was nearing Wellington on Monday last, n pas-. 6enger_ named Bessie Bates and the ship's doctor," G. S. Aspinall, attempted to commit suicide by taking some drug. On Saturday morning the young woman was brought before Mr. E. Page. R.M., at the Magistrate's Court for sentence. Chief-Detective Boddam told the Court that 'lie had been informed that the voung women's narents were prepared to take charge of Tier. She was now in a normal'state and was not likely to repeat an attenint to take her life.
His Worship remarked that the accused had had a severe lesson, and under the circumstances she would be discharged. "
The ship's doctor is to be brought, up for sentence on Wednesday next.
