During the eo'urse of the discussion oh the By-laws and Fire BriVodf' Committers report at tho City Council on Friday night mention was made ' that * the annual report of the Fire Brigade had been printed and circulated among members. Councillor Dale, in noticing this, said that he tho'ught that the superintendent of tin; brigade (Mr. H. Tait) should be congratulated on the report, and also 011 the state of efficiency of tho brigade. Me had experienced a rough time during tho war, but the standard of efficiency had bee'i maintained. He pointed out that whilst there l\od been the same number of fire.- in Auckland as in Wellington du.'ing the past official yqar, viz., 97, the loss in Auckland had been .£lß,llß, as compared with XH.SG2 in Wellington. Tho comparative figures for the four centres are as follow:—
