The death has occurred of Mme. Lallie Charles, the society and theatrical photo'Charles, who ivae an Irishwoman bv birth, began her career as a photoEra pher some twenty years ago. bne he«an as an amateur, taking her photographs to illustrated papers, and in a few vears she worked up a business that was the most fashionable and popular in 'she departed from her rule ..of limiting her talent to women when she opened her new studio in Curzoii btreet in 1913 and, in response to insistent demands, decided to pose men for her marie camera. The result of her decision was an instant success, and it was not long before her studio was patronised '"The'art'of Mmc. Charles lay in her original method of posing nnd draping, nnd her wonderful talent of knowing cxacliv in what light and position certain twos of beauty would look their beet. In .Tune. 19U. Mme. Charles gave a photographic exhibition in Curzon Street of "Mve Hundred .Fair Women," the collection including all the leading beauties of London society. Her collection increased afterwards, and the walls of her nrivatn home were adorned with tie ove lest representatives of England Scolh u and Ireland.
