PARCELS POST
DAMAGE OF GOODS IN TRANSIT. The following new regulations regarding carriage of parcels.by post, and the liability of the Government for damage in transit, are gazetted:—-In the event of any damage occurring during transit, His Majesty may, with his own consent, be liable to pay compensation to tho owner, but not exceeding' in any ease a greater sum that «£2 in respect of any uninsured parcel, provided (lie special.' "fragile" fee of 6d.", where necessary ,has been paid thereon. No compensation, however, will be paid in respect of 'lie loss of any unregistered or uninsured parcel.
In the event of any inquiry respecting the loss of a parcel, the sender must produce his receipt.
In respect of a unreel insured for more than .£:', addressed to n place within New Zealand, or uf any insured parcel addressed to a place , bayond New Zealand. (he sender, at the tin)-, of posting, must obtain a certificate, which must be , produced by him when any claim for compensation arises. No charge will be made for the certificate. 'The recoint provided for ordinary parcels must be obtained by the ?i'iid»r on posting an inland parcel insured for any emu not exceeding £2.
Parcels containing any of the following articles are accepted for i»snrnnco against loss, ]>iit the Piwtmnstev-Gpneral will rot recognise any claim arisint; out of the daniaie of siich articles—viz.. liquids or semi-liquids; nerishible articles suchns esws butler, fruit, flowers confectionery, otc.; fragile articles such as glassware, etc.
