SAILORS' REST
. Tho sailors' peace festivities organised J by the British and Foreign Sailors' Society wsro continued and concluded in the rooms of the Naval Boating Club on Monday night. Parlour games, songs, and recitations wero indulged in, and a very enjoyable evening was spent by tho largo number of sailors present. It was anthat the football match played .on Kilbimie Park during the day between sailors of tho Shropshire and Port Pirie had boen won by those .of tho former vessel by five points to iiil. The Shropshire men presented Mr. D. M'Calliim, of the Sailors' Rest, with a framed picture of their vessel as a token of appreciation of what ho had done for the sailors ill port during tho past ■■ week. The sum of 145., collected from tho crew of tho Shropshire by tho men, was handed to the society as a donation towards the fund for furnishing tho rooms at the Sailors' Rest, this gift being the outcome of their gratitude for the good time spent. Einging cheers from the sailors for the lady helpers and all those whoso kindne.-K has made their peace holidays so enjoyable, followed l>y tho einging of "Auld Lang Syne," terminated the proceedings about 10.30 p.m.
