CHURCH UNION
Iu an address recently delivered in London, Principal Selbie (Congregationalist) said: "Wo have sained, I think, cruite definitely an acknowledgment of the Ajiglicans of onr ehureluuanslup. These do not call us other Christian bodies. They call us Christian Churches. . . . We are not coming into the union oil the basis of being other Christian bodies; wo are coming in as Churches, or not at all." On the other hand, Dr. Selbio said: "The Anglicans have gained from us recognition that if there is to , ha a great united Church it will have to be under some form of episcopal government, not prelacy, but a constitutional episcopacy." Dr. Selbio remarked, amidst laughter, that this was not as bad as it looked. Turning to Hr. Battenbury, be gained from him an agreement that tho Wesleyuns would not be alarmed by the thought of bishops. The Baptists, ho declared, have superintendents already, and tho Congregationalists have passed a measure arranging for superintendents.
