THE KING'S THEATRE. \ There will lie a special raatmoe performance at Die King's Theatre this afternoon, commencing at 2.15, when a programme witli lull orchestral accompaniments, will le presented precisely as at night. Mr. Erjiffst Drake, who has been pleasing the King's patrons for the past week, will render appropriate items. The chief picture attraction is the splendid "First National" feature, "The Passing of the Third l>or Back," with Sir Johnston'Forbes-Robertson in the rolo of the Stranger-a wonderful characterisation that has been world-famous. THE DANDIES AND THE KENNEDYS. The Dandies survived the strong coun-ter-attraction of the fireworks display on Saturday evening, and there was quite a. fnird 'crowd in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. Tho first part, of Hie programme was taken'up by the Kennedy Company. The outstanding feature of this portion was the violin playing of Mr. Keith Kennedy. Jn the rendering of an imitation of the bagpipes in one of his encores he was very realistic. Iho second part of Die programme was occupied by the Dandies. The whole company gave individual performances, and all were very pleasing. Misses Lenoro Graham (soubrette), Christina Andrews (soprano), Madeline Knight (contralto), and' Kitty Gelhor (pianist), and Messrs. Kingsley Chapmun (tenor), Renn Millar (base;, Noel Monkman ('cellist), and George Livingston (comedian) were well received, and their performances merited the applause they received. MONSTER MATINEE AT HIS MAJESTY'S. Commencing at 2.15 o'clock this afternoon a monster programme will be presented at His Majesty's Theatre, in aid of the Mothers' Help Division, Women's National Reserve. Through tlie kindness of Messrs. Fuller the free uee of His Maiestv's Theatre and services of members of Fuller's Vaudeville Company havo been secured. The vaudeville section of the bill will embrace songs by Mr. Billv Maloney, the popular revue comedian. 11 dance and.acrobatic specialty bv the Kewpie Kids, a new veutriloquial act bv Victor tho Great and company, I and Ethiopian eccentricities by Jolly John Larkin. Mr. John Hopkins has generously permitted numbers of the Dandies' Costume Comedy Company and | thn Kennedy Concert Company to contribute choice selections from their inimitable entertainment. Others .'' who have consented to contribute gratuitously to the nrocrramme are Miss Beere's clever nuuils, who will perform some delightful dunces, including "Tho Dove of Peace," an exhibition of ballroom and fancy dancinsr. and a Spanish dance, and Miss CiiniDbell and Mrs, Hannah's performers, who will flguve in tho "Quarrel Scene from the spectacular "Midsummer Iwght s Dream." arranged and designed by Mrs. Hannah, including an original elory "Tho Fall of tho First Red Leaf. Iho solo dances of Puck and tile First Fairy, aid the Autumn Ballet is special y introduced bv Miss Gladys Campbell. Mr. Norman Aitken and Mr. Albert Kussell, of tho "Charlie's Aunt" Company, have also arranged to contribute special items, which uromise to be of a particularly enturtamiiiK character. THE DIGGER PIERROTS. » Fish from their successes on the. C<mlinent ami in England Tho Diggers' Pierrots apepared in Wellington about three weeks si"o. After a triumphant tour ot the No|tn Island they will again appear at the Grand Opera House.on Wednesday night and the three following nights. Bumper houses and the utmost entnusittsin have greeted the boys on their trip north, and it is fortunate for Wellington that circumstances permitted them to pay a return vfsit prior to touring the .South island and being demobilised. As one country paper said: "It would bo a thousand pities if this talented band wore disbanded. The Diggers are worth going a long way to see." THE CONCERT OF THE YEAH. To Mr. Leu Barnes, who is leaving shortly for America, is to bo accorded the concert of the year. Seldom, if ever, has such an array of the leading talent of Wellington been organised on tho same platform. For the second time cnlv in Wellington Miss M'Enroe, Mr. H F. Wood, and Mr. Harold "Whittle are to be heard in Percy Grainger's new and altogether beautiful colonial song, "Spntimentals," a composition for soprano, tenor, and piano, which is supDosed to embody* tho spirit of the colonies more particularly, perhaps, that of Australia. Another big feature will be the singing by Miss M'Enroe, Mr. \\ ood, ond Sicnor Ce&nroni, of the famous Holy kneels" trio, from the final scene of Gounod's "Faust."
