Mr. Bonar Law, in tho House of Commons, said he had consulted the lawofficers, who advised that there were no grouuds for proceedings against Sir Edward Carson relative to his rccent_speech. [Sir Edward Carson revived the Home Rule controversy recently in a speech which Opposition pn.oers in Loudon described as a Bolshevist utterance and a menace to the peaco of tho world.] (Roe. July 18, 1.10 a.m.) London, July 17. Mr. J. R. Clynes moved the adjournment of tho House in order to call attention to the Government/a failure to prosecute Sir Edward Carson for his re. cent speech, which incited violence and was calculated to endanger the safety of the realm. The motion was rejected bv 217 votes to 73. after the AttorneyGeneral and Mr. Bonar Law had emphasised that no law was broken, Sir Edward Carson's speech being hypothe-tical.—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
