AN UNUSUAL CASE
INTERFERENCE WITH THEATRE LIGHTS. By Tclccrao'il.—Ptosb ARCoclntion. Dannevirke, July IG. The decision of Mr. E. Page, S.M',, mis given to-day in an unusual case of interest to picture theatre proprietors. Thomas Augustus Petherick, formerly of Dannevirke, was charged with having wilfully done damage to the electric installation at the Arcadia Picture Theatre to the extent of 2s. Gd. The evidence showed that on tho evening on which tho Arcadia Picture Company dispensed with Petherick'* services the lights in the theatre suddenly went out at the end of Ihe performance, before tho audioneo had not out of the building. Pcthericl;, when requested to put on tho electric lights for the purposes of a directors' meeting, refused, and subsequently it was found that a wire had been cut in tho. operating box. which affected the lijrhls. and would have prevented the showing of pictures the following evening but for the discovery of the fault. His Worship convicted Pelhericlc and fined him & and costs J!0 lis. Gd., in default fourteen days' imprisonment. Security was fixed for appeal.
