MEETING OF THE UNION DOUBT AS TO REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURES The Management Committee of the Wellington Kugbv Football Union met last evening, Mr. W. Hornig presiding. Also present were: Messrs. Is'. Perry, Millard. H. Buck, Ward, Prendeville, Lundon. Jackson, and Griffiths. The curtailment of the railway services has interfered considerably with the union's representative fixtures, and it was stated that it would take a week either by boat or train to do the trip to Auckland. The expenses for such a trip of six days were estimated at .£166. The • chairman expressed the opinion that it would be as well to cut out the whole' of the representative fixtures this season. To replace these dates he suggested playing a third round for tha senior teams. It might be arranged that a home-and-home could be played with Canterbury, but other than that he could not see, "with the present train arrangements, that any representative fixtures could be played. Mr. Perry suggested that the question might be held over with a view to conferring with the railway authorities as to the likelihood of a through train.;' to Auckland. Ho was in favour of giving the players a trip if possible. 1 The financial aspect of the position was mentioned, and Mr. Buck said it would be an excellent opportunity to curtail expenses by cutting out tne representative tour, and playing a third senior round. , 1 , It was pointed out that there would not be any necessity for refusing the Taranaki match or the Canterbury match. Upon the motion of Mr. Millard it was decided that the chairman, Mi. Prendeville. and the secretary form a committee to consider the. advisability of postponing the representative fixtures, and to consider the facilities for travelling. They will also consider the possibility of playing a third round in the senior competition. '
