Wanganui, July 14. ~ At a meeting of the Chamber of Com. niercc to-night the coal shortage was dip. cussed, It was pointed out that tlio original locomotives for tlio Maniiwalu railway wero equipped for burning wood, mid it was urged that if that typo ot locomotive were still available it should lie used. Another suggestion made was that the Government should olfer tlio Tunnelling Corps on its return from Franco a coal nrea to work, either on a royal.ty or a wages and bonus basis.
