A FATAL FALL
INQUEST ADJOURNED. Yesterday afleruoon the coroner,, Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.JI., opened an inquest concerning the death of Ilenry Clancy, who fell down the staircase of the Central Coffee Palace, in Lowor Cuba Street, on Sunday. Sergeant Cruickslwnk 'conducted the inquiry on behalf of the police.. Dr. K. W. Fyffc gnvo evidence as to the result of a post-mortem examination and suid that the canst of. deatli was due to a fracture of the spine. The proprietor of the Coffee Palace, Mr. Arthur Harvey, gave evidence a 9 to finding the deceased lying on the stairKise. Ho had apparently left the din-iug-room, and was mounting the stairs when lie fell backwards. Constable Swan gave evidence as to removing. the deceased to the hospital, where ho subsequently died. As there was insufficient evidence as to identification the coroner adjourned the inquest till 9.30 this morning, when two additional witnesses will be heard.
