"THE PINK LADY." The Grand'.Opera' House va.Vcrowded on Saturday evening, when "Oh! On! Delphine!" was played for the last tmio by. the Roval' Comic Opera- Company. Tho company'will moke its farewell appearances in New Zealand to-night and the two following evenings in the popular musical ; play, "Tho Pink | Lady, which is undoubtedly due of the most successful comic operas staged during the present decade. "The Pink Lady _Is one of the finest' productions the Williamson, Ltd., management has given the public for many years, not excluding "Katinka,",.' , Mavtime,"'and "The- Merry Widow.", Tho plot and spectacle are excellent, and tho dressing, thescenery, the electric effects, tho ballets, - and tno mountings approach those of any pantomime. .Miss Gladys Moncriefi has achieved dier-greatest success-in'tho nam? part, which includes some very excellent musical numbers; Miss -Florence- Young will bo heard in what is considered her greatest song - success, "Donny Did, Donny Didn't"; Mr. Phil .Smith and Mr. Leslie Holland sire seen in" their meroest mood, and Messrs. Reginald Roberts, Jack Balaton,- Claude Bantock, Percy Claridge, ''also the 'Misses-- ; olive Godwin and Addie Lennard, have all congenial parts to-.sing and act,--\-The.- dancing ot Miss-Maio Eaml and-Mr. Robert M Ivmnon is a feature of the.production. THE DANDIES AND KENNEDY ■ COMPANY-. • ~-•■ The inaugural- programme to bo presented by "The Dandies'" and the Kennedy Company at tho Town' Hall concert Chamber next Wednesday evening is characterised-by'.cxcejbmt. variety. Mr. Keith Kennedy (violinist) and Mr. Noel Monkmann (.'cellist)' havo met With much s'ue'eeas ou'tlie -present tour, and- their admirable cßoice of' selections ■ has 'been favourably commented upon. The vocal work of each-company is also very highly spoken of, tho'sopralios' being Miss Christina of "The Dandies," 'and Miss Bronwen Fairhall,' of "The Kenpedys." There are also two fine contralto singers in Miss • Madolino' Knight' and Miss Mimimie Boardjieff, while-Mr. Renn Millar, tho basso of "The Dandies," completes the list of singers''i ho essay tho more' serious side r of' music. In the comedy section, Misses J ennio Cre.o and Miss Lenore Graham appear'. /Mr. GeorgeLivingstone, Mr. Kingsley (,hapman,and Mr. A. Cree complete tho coterie of performers responsible for the humour of the evening. Tho uccompaniste to the Kennedy Company is Madam Bertha Kennedy', while Miss Kitty Gelhor, officiates in .'a similar capacity to "Tho Dandies. Quito a-feat'uve'of the entertainment-is said to- be tho concerted singing and humorous ensembles. The vlans will open at tho Bristol this' morning. ■■ THE KING'S THEATRE.. - Slim, elegunl, and fascinating, Mr. John Barrymore, plays .with" conspicuous success tho part of Raffles in the. principal picturo showing 1 nt the Kings Theatre.' It would be difficult, indeed, to find fault with any detail of his clever characterisation.' Mr. Barrymore s Raffles is strong, suave, generous, and capablo in emergency of lightning-swift action. He has all the traditional-ap-peal'to the feminine eye and-the feminine fancy; and he has a sense of humour that'is fully alive' to the delicious irony of the best scenes in the play. Mr. Barrymore is not alon'e in his success; ho is ve'rv ably supported by the other mombers of the east,, who arc for the most part well- entitled to share the honours of an excellent production. Raffles may be commended with confwnce to •the discriminating, patron of <the films. The King's Orchestra provides.a musical 'entertainment" that, merits, notice and the singing of Mr. Ernest Drake,- the •Auckland tenor, is an -attraction not to be lightly regarded by those who seek recreation in thoopicture-halls- this week.

"^» HUTT' BOWLING~ayB'S CONCERT. . The Hutt Bowling. Club's ninth annual concert, ; under the patronage of .Their Excellencies the 'Governor-General and the Countess of Liverpool, will take place in the Town Hall, Lower lluijt, on Tuesday night. The names of the artists include Miss Clara Holga.te, of.Timaru, who is making her first appearance in ■Wellington. Messrs. I.en. Barnes, Albert Russell, Herbert F. Wood, Harold ■Whittle, and other well-known performers. The Orphans' Club orchestra, and a party of Maori ppi dancers, from Dnnnovirke," under the leadership of Mrs. Wi Duncan, will assist in the programme. The concert is under the direction of Mr. E. J. Hill. '
