THE Y.W.C.A. APPEAL
Of !ate years, woman has become part of the great machine of commerce, until now she is essential in almost nil businesses. The demand for young women to fill city positions increases daily, hence there is a constant stream of new girls arriving in the city to tako up their duties in shops, factories, and offices. The Young Women's Christian Association have for some timo been endeavouring to cope with the demand for rooms by operating two hostels, but their capacity is hopelessly inadequate for pre sent needs. To relieve this state of affairs they are extending their system by purchasing another house, which, after undergoing extensive alterations and additions, will be capable of accommodating SO boarders. They are also reoccupying their House in Boulcutt Street, which has, up till a recent date been used as a Soldiers' Hostel. This building, after numerous alterations have been effected and complete refurnishings installed, will provide club, rest, and lunch rooms for girls. r unceasing activities of the Y.W.C.A. in caring for the recreation and comfort of young women, cannot be too highly praised, and it is felt that readers will see the urgency of the appeal and subscribe frcelv. The Treasurer is Mr. A. D. Bayfield! Box 1071, Wei. ljngton, to whom donations may be ser.js —(Published by arrangement.)
