CHILDREN'S PEACE THANKSGIVING
BY GATHERING OF BOY SCOUTS. Heads of the Boy Scout troops of Wellington arranged a children's peace thanksgiving service which was held in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The Rev. S. Robertson Orr presided, and among those present were Major-Genera!• Sir Alfred Robin, tue Mayor (Mr. ,1. P. Luke) and the Mayoress. Mr. Robert Parker officiated at the organ. There were between 500 and IiOO ficmits in the body of the hall, together with many other children. The galleries were filled with adults. District Scout Commander W. Mason read a passage of Scripture, in which Isaiah offers up a prayer of thanksgiving to God. • Scoutmaster N. Cowie led the congregation in prayer. Scoutmaster the Rev. G. W. Dent particularly addressed the ecouts present, urging them to live up to those high ideals for which Iheir fathers and brothers had sacrificed their lives in foreign lands. The Rev. A. E. Hunt said that we had heen given the victory in Iho war not because of what we were, but because of what our cause was; and not because it was our cause, hut because it was the cause of God. God had not been on our side—we bad been on His. At the close of the servico,' which included the singing of several'hymns, the chairman pronounced the ienediction. The scouts marched through the principal streets before dispersing..
