"No time-tables available for district." "Notice—Races: No tickets issued here;" "No reserved seats anywhere in tho North Island." These are the notices that meet the eye on entering this ordinarily very busy office in mid-city. The lalo of "Noes" tells the story of a railway disruption such as has never before been experienced in the history of the Dominion. In tho meantime the receipts at the city bureau havo dwindled from hundreds of pounds a day to a modest j,voligura sum. and tho duty of the officers is principally to say "No" lo 90 per cunt, of the inquiries, and lo figure out the ramifications of tho ''cut" tlmn-table for the edification of a moro or loss bewildered public, who persist on regarding themsolvos as essential goods. All the mills arc currying on as usual.
