INCREASED CONTROL PROPOSED. Tho Uv-lnws Conunilleo reported to Ihe Cilv Council last night thai it had considered the question of hoardings and had decided lo make the following mendation:--That tho cuuucil do not abolish hoardings in Ihe eii.y, 'out that tho officers be instructed lu 'bring down regulalions governing their const ruction, maintenance, and upkeep, in order lo ensure that the hoardings will ho kept u,p to a. reasonable ;,nd satisfactory .standard. The. chairman nf I in- cominillw (Councillor M. I.uckie) said (lint the committee fell that the abolition of hoardings would not 1)3 juslilied. but flint steps should be taken lo keep llio slnu'Uues al n proper standard. Tho council adopted the report.
