HUTT AND PETONE NEWS
A rally of the Protestant Political Association was held in Hie Orange Hall, Bnick Street, Petone. on Wednesday. 1 hero was a large attendance, and Mr Ashman occupied the chair. Major M Naught, provincial secretary, addressed the meeting and touched on the forthcoming elections, briefly outlining the PI .A. platform. He urged the necessity ot complete organisation, and said to achieve success the Protestant body of the community must sink its petty differences lor the common good, and act as one man. Supper was provided by the ladies, and the .singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to ' The following are the results of the school fixtures, which had hem postponed from last Friday week on account ot the death of the late Mr. J. G. Castle, and which were filayrd en Wednesday.Petone District High School (primary department! defeated Clyde Quay by l,i points to nil. For the winners tries werescored' by Brough (3) and King, and Smith kicked a penalty goal. . Petone West defeated Maranui by 10 points to 8. Newtown (3) defeated Hutt District High School (nil).. , Tim following resolution was passed unanimously by the Petone branch of the Labour Party :-"Tliat this branch of the Labour Representation Committee most emphatically protests against the charge of i! 2 10s. per ton for the corriago of coal on the Armagh from Newcastle to Wellington. More especially so as the Armagh is a Governmentcontrolled boat."
