The local offico of the Union Company received adviee yesterday that the Manuka left Sydney yesterday at 7 a.m. She has on board over three hundred passengers, and it is thought sho has a full cargo for discharge. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, July 9. Tho latest advice received -by the Union Steam Ship Company states that the Manuka- left tho Margaret Street Wharf. Hydncy, at 2 p.m. yesterday, with 310 passengers, but seven firemen were not on board at the time of sailing, and the vessel steamed to an anchorage in Watson's liay. The Manuka left Auckland three weeks ago with a full New Zealand crew on Now Zealand articles. It is hoped that tho missing firemen will he available, and the Eijip will sail for Wellington to-day. NEW C.D. VESSELS. L,ondon, July 8. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line has ordered from Messrs. Yickers, Barrow-in-Furness, three turbine oil-fuel steamers, of 22,500 tons. They are 520 ft. lonfe, 68ft. in beam, and 29ft. in draft fully loaded, having 900,CC0 cubic feet of cargo space, of which 400,000 cubic feet is insulated. Tho first steamer is to bo delivered in .18 months, the second in 22 months, and the third in from 24 to 26 months. The vessels will be fully up to 'date.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Absu. (Rec. The Kaiapoi is due to-day with a cargo of coal from Greymouth. The Komata is to leave at noon to-day for Westport. She will load back to/Wellington. The Kini and the Kamo are both to leave Greymouth on Saturday for Wellington, The Kamona is to sail from Wellington to-day for Greymouth to load coai loi Wellington. ' The Kahika, with a load of timber, is to leave Grdymouth at the end of the week for Wellington. The Talune arrived at Auckland yesterday from the Islands with a big cargo of fruit. She is to leave Auckland to-morrow for Wellington. Sho loads at Wellington and at Picton for Auckland. Tho Bakanoa. was to have left Bluff yesterday for Wellington, via Dunedin and Oamarui. She should reach Welliugton on Sunday. THE WAR PILOT. Tho War Pilot, from New York direct, which arrived at Lyttelton on Sunday, was to have berthed yesterday. Sho has 1600 tons of cargo for discharge there, including a large consignment of case oil. From Lyttelton sho will proceed to Dunedin, thence Melbourne ami Brisbane. The War Pilot is :i steel steamer of 5875' tons gross, and was built in 1917 by tho Kawasaki Dockyard Company,' Ltd., at Kobe. Her principal dimensions are; Length, 385.3 ft.; breadth. 51.2 ft.; and depth, 25;5ft. Tho Commonwealth and Dominion Line are her agents in Now Zealand STEA'MERS FROM 3IONTREAL. Advice received by tho New Zealand Shipping Company states that the steamer Yonne has been fixed to follow tho Rona on the loading berth at 3lontreal for Now Zealand pei'ts. The Yonne is a, steel singlescrew vessel of 4385 tons gross register, and was built by 3lessrs. A. M'Millan and Sons, Ltd., at Dumbarton, in 1910. She is owned by tho Equinox Steam Ship Company, Ltd., of London. » The Yonne will be followed on the loading berth by tho Ivumara, and both vessels will probably sail this month. PAKEHA DUE TO-DAY. Tho Pakelia,, from Bluff, is duo hero early this morning to complete her Homeward loading. She is to sail finally on Tuesday. . SHROPSHIRE LEAVES. Having developed a leak in her Btcrn tube wliiie on the trip front Wellington to Jlavelock and Sounds, tile Blciihcitu is being beached in one of the bays to have repairs effected. This morning the lliiiemoa is to leave Wellington with stores for all Cook Strait lighthouses and Kahurangl Point lighthouse. Given favourable weather the vessel should return to Wellington in about ten days' time.
The Regulus canic oil tho slip yesterday afternoon, aud in the evening proceeded to Nelson and tho Coast-. The Rtiru to-day is to load a cargo of drain pipes lor Napier and Wairoa. The Calm Bhould leave Wnngauui tonight for- Wellington. She will load here for Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton. Tho Jtana is to make a trip to Tokomaru Hay this month. She will probably leave Welliugton for there direct on July 22. Tha Putiki is to sail to-morrow for Lyttelton Uud Dunedin. She will receive cargo to-day. - The Ngaliere returned to Greymouth yesterday. She will load a full cargo there to-morrow, part of which is lor Wellington and the balance for Tokomaru Bay. Tho Jiritißli and Imperial Oil Company has just received advice that its ship Euplectcla is coaling at/ Newcastle, and will not arrive at Auckland until July 20. The Dunedin barque Aut-iope has practically completed di6cliargo of the Auckland portion of her cargo, and is now taking in ballast- for her trip to Wellington, where Biie will discharge tho balance of her cargo and lead for London. It is reported from Wanganui that heavy Beas on the coast have caused a largo break in tile south spit, and tile damage, it is expected, will run into several thousands of pounds. Efforts were made last Thursday night to till the broach with sandbags, but on Friday afternoon all that was left of the protective works was a row of broken stacks, tho rest being buried under the sand. Early in May, 240 standard ships, amounting to 998,156 tons, had been completed in England. In August, 1914, tho total world's ocean-going steamer tonnage was 40.000,000, of which Britain owned 18,500,000, whereas at the beginning of 1919. the figures were 36,500,C00 and 15,250,000 respectively. The United States pre-war tonnage was 1,703,000, but it was now 6,400,000, an extraordinary increase for that nation.
