COUNTRY RACING CLUBS
ANNUAL MEETING OP ASSOCIATION , i The New Zealand Country Eacing Clubs' Association held its annual meeting last evening. Mr. Wafter Bruce (Thames) presided over an attendance that represented the majority of tho clubs. Tho president, presented the executive's annual report. The executive considered that the country clubs should endeavour to secure better representation on the Racing Conference. It also urged the restoration of tho racing days "filched tho 1910 legislation." "There is a strong public opinion," tho report stated, "in favour of legislation to enable the double totalisator to bo used again. The .illegitimate double betting that is carried on to an enormous extent in tho Dominion proves that the double machine should bo used to putdown this illegality Its introduction would financially benelit the racing clubs and the State."
The Hon. E. W. Alison said that he was pleased to seo that tho annual report favoured tho introduction of the double totalisator. He suggested that the chairman, in moving that the leport he received, move also that the recommendations contained in it be adopted. Ihe chairman agreed, ,tnd the motion was carried accordingly. The. chairman moved'that tho levy for tho year bo one guinea. The motion was carried.

. Mr. D. J. Evans moved that the esjistinff system of licensing bo continued. Me urged that the district committees best knew local conditions, and were generally more suitable than a central oontrol could be.
The motion was carried. following resolution was adopted: Nni be a recommendation to tho i. v Zealand Racing Conference to amend tho rules >r regulating the procedure ioi tho conduct ofr elochous of members tor tho Racing Conference and district committors respectively, and that the«o Hues shall contain a clauso to tho cflect that once a club, lias lodged its votin" paper with the secretary of the confei" enco it cannot bo withdrawn, and a turtlier clause providing a penalty where one club attempts by intermediation to influence the committoo of any other club by threats or otherwise into voting contrary to tho wishes of the committee of the club intermediated."
