THKEE MAORIS SENT TO GAOL. Uy Telcgraph-Prcss ABBodation.. Wanganui, July 9. As a sequel to last night's disturbance ■three Maoris, John. Waldron; Te Manu Taputoro, anil 'Kapita. Martens, appeared betore the Magistrate's Court to-uay, tho two former charged with obstructing the police in the execution of their duly and the latter with using obsceno language and resisting the police. Tho men were sentenced to two months' imprisonment each. The three men are returned soldiers, and tho 1 Magistrate remarked that a uniform or a returned seller's badge was not going- to savo them or bo a, cloak for larrikimsm. It would bo wrong to treat such actions lightly j it would bring the uniform into disgrace. When wearing uniforms men should behave like gentlemen, not liko larrikins. There was too much of this sort of thing going on throughout tho Dominion. The police were not to be interfered with when doing their duty.
