TRAIN ACCIDENT AT ORMONDVILLE
CABBIAGE OVBBTUBNED. By Telegraph—Press Association, Napier, July 9. The up-train from Palnvrston North, dnch arrived here at G. 15 p.m. this evening, lwd nitlier a narrow escape from a serious accident on reaching Ormondviile. The train pulled into n side lino to allow the dawn wail to pass. The train was an exceedingly long one, the services of two engines being required to draw it. After the mail had passed up the train left Ormonlville station, but as the carriages were traversing the points, which were apparently split, one or two of them left llio track. The speed of the train was not great, hut quite sufficient to cause one carriage to topple over. This would have caused the remaining carriages ro fall also, had it not been for the timely snapping of tlu> couplings. These carrages contained many women and children. The occupants of the overturned car, four in all, managed to get clear in time, and beyond a severe shaking no harm befell tiiem. The line was soon cleared end the train was then cut in two, and the passengers brought oil to Napier, where they arrived well up to time.
