Tho total eventual cost of the »'- ei4"e will'be annually JC0.118,000, of which .C 2,8: j .!),000 will go in increa-so ct pav - ,£CSG,OOO in increased allowances, and' J!2,653,C00 in inci-eased pensions. New Rate. K. d. ' s. d. Able seamen under 3 years' servici , . 19 o -w ''i Able seamen over (i years and 2 children 25 1 80 2J Peltv officer over Ii _ 'years and 2 children 3G 0 10/ ii The rales of pay are similarly increased for the lioyal Marines, who are henceforth to be'jxiid on Xnvy and not Army lines. Back Pay. The increase in substantive pay will be antedated to February I for nil men still lerviiig in the Navy on May 1 and not-dispersed before Hint dale; the other chouses will take elfeet as from May 1. The main changes are: Allowance for good conduct badges raised from Ii to 3d. a day. -Basic rate or pensions fixed /it IJd. inslead of i<l. a day for each year of service. Avernee pension will rise from XlOl now to'about ,£7B a year. Pensions will not in future be taken into account in fixing wages of pensioners in Government employ The present iillowiiiico »f W. a day in lieu of spirit will 'be raised to 7s. a month, or (vbou.t 3d. a, day. Tho system of chnrgins iValiona Health Insurance contributions against tho men will be dropped and the men's contributions paid by the Admiralty.
