The first meeting of the South Island ltailway League, comprising a convention of all local bodies in Maryborough, considered the best means of furthering and Hushing forward the South Island Trunk line. A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce attended. After full discussion it was decided to adjourn the meeting, pending the conference between the protiident of thu league and of tho I'fcton and Marlborough Chambers of Commerce, to formulate and bring down ii bet of proposals for a combination of forces to push matters on.
