Negotiations between the flaxrnillors and the flaxmill employees are apparently nearing satisfactory conclusion. The ioconferred to-day, aud /aw agreement was drawn up on the linos ot a letter from Messrs. A. l9eifert and E. T. Bell, flaxmillers, to the employees' union, as follows: "In consequence ot the increased prico of hemp now ruling, we agree to lecommend tho FaxmilleiV Association to reopen on tho basis that for day. work Is. 9d. au hour.or Us. a day, be tho automatic scutching award rates; hand scutching, 80s. a ton; cutting 20 per cent, oft last'season'6 rates; paddocking with carting, 325. in summer, 355. in winter; paddockirig without carting, 235. in summer, 263. in wintoi. Should the necessity fora revision of th& wage rates, arise, a month's notice to bo given on either side, an da conference to bo called immediately." The president and secretary of . tlii. Flasirorkere' Union agreed to recommend members to commence work forthwith on these terms. Both sides will consider the recommendation immediately. It i? expected that work at tho mills will hi in full swing next week.
