FIRE AT HATAITAI
At 9.30 yesterday morning the Tins Brigade was summoned to Wai'oa Roadi Hatnitai, where it five-roomed bungalow, occupied l>v Mi , . Alex. Laurenson, vns ablaze'. When the brigade arrived, the flames had too great a hold for it to effect « "save," and the dwelling nnd contents were totally destroyed, 'nio house was owned by Mr. Guthrie. who lives up-country, and at. present the insurance on it is not available. Tin , contents wero insured in the Nonvieli Union Office for X 450. Tho cause of tt-c fire was located in a defective ohimney. .m one fTme it looked as (hough the flames would spread to the adjoining house, but tho brigade succeeded in preventing tins, Ciic only damage done being a slight scorching of the walls.
