The only other company that carries passengers direct from New Zealand . to England, the Now- Zealand Shipping Company, haß three steamers sailing this month and next. Conseoucntly no berths are being booked for tlhe steamers' outward trip, either in England or by being prepaid in New Zealand THE PORT BENISON, The Port Denison, which, arrived from Sydney late on Tuesday night, berthed at the King's Wharf yesterday afternoon. This is the Port Denison's maiden trip to Australasian waters, she having brought out a draft ot returning troops to Australian ports. Prior to coming out hero 6he was engaged in carrying American troops to Europe. The Port Denison was built in 1918 by Messrs. Workman, Clark and Co.. Ltd., Belfast, and her urincipal dimensions are: Tonnage, ,10,500; length, 480.4 ft.; breadth, _60.3 ft.; and depth. 32.3 ft. The Australrange is the first steamet owned by the Australian Government to visit Lyttelton. Tho Anstralrange is 44C9 gross toiiß, and previously to being bought by the Australian Government was named the Strathdeo. The Ngalicre is to proceed to Greymouth to-day. She will load back to Wellington, bringing coal to bunker the Riniulaka. The Canadian five-masted auxiliary schooner Laurel Whalen, which has made such a, prolonged stay at Auckland, is taking in additional oil fuel preparatory to resuming her voyage. The Shaw-Savill steamer Waiwcra is employed at tho discharge of 23C0 tons of New York cargo at Lyttclton. She will probably leave there to-day for Dunedin, to continue unloading, and when finished there will sail for Melbourne .and Adelaide with tho remainder of her cargo.
