PROPOSALS SUBMITTED to m'ineI OWNERS. By Tcleßraoh—l'reaß Association. Dunodin, July 2. The Miners' "Federation has forwarded proposals to the New' Zealand Coal Mine Owners' Association for a new agreement/and asking for a conference. The proposals include the' abolition of the contract system, that miners be paid XI daily, truckers, horse drivers, and men in chargo of a rope road, 17s. (id., aud that the. hours of work shall be seven, bank to bank, immediately, and on January 1, 11)21, tho hours '.shall bo reduced to si.\',.bank In bank; the pay to bo .weekly, every -Friday afternoon; every' Saturday to be an idle day; no coal to be hewed other than on day shift.; the hours of work iir wet places to be fiv# bank to bank; no trucking to be done by miners; not. more than one shift to" be done in twenty-four hours; the company to provide free light, tools, and house coal to all workers; all workers shjill be granted a fortnight's holiday on full pay each year, the same to bo from December 23 to January 5 inclusive; the Jester holiday to be from Good Friday to Easter Tuesday inclusive; the other holidays to bo May Day and Labour Day. " -
