OCCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
: DEATH OF MART M'PADDEN. The Coroner, Mr. W..G. Riddell, S.M., held an inquest-yesterday concerning the death of Mary M'Padden. The evidence .. showed that the 'deceased, who kept a boardmgbouse on The Terrace, had coniplained of feeling unwell. On Sunday .1 Jast she got up at 8.30 o'clock in the morning and complained of a headache. In tho afternoon l the pains in the head | became worse, and she became unconscious. Dr.,'C. The deceased, who caniß . ,from Westport, was 13 years of ago. SUICIDE BY STRANGULATION, i By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, July 1. A married man named Wilfred Mel/■ViIK aged 37 years, ireamery manager . at East Tamaki, was found dead this ■ morning hanging from a rafter in the creamery. At the inquest a verdict was : returned that deceased committed suicide by strangulation. ' RAILWAYit AN KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Te'Kuiti, July 1, A surfaceman named Thomas Lowrie, 55 years of ago, and married, was killed on tho (railway this afternoon. Deceased and another surfaceman named Owen were on a trolly returning to Puketutu after the day's work, and when rounding a bend met an up goods train. Owen slid off, and was only slightly injured: Lowrie had no chance, as his back was to the engine. Tho trolly was smashed to pieces. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
