.There were fewer 'births but more deaths and marriages in the first half of the present year than in the corresponding six months of last year. Following are the figures:— 1918 1919 Births 1128 1032 Deaths ; 143 590 Marriages 50G 521 Marriages in the Registrar's office:— First half of 1918, 164; first half of 1919. 160. The vital statistics for June, 1919, are appended, together, for purposes of comparison, with those for 1918:— 1918 1919 Births 141 167 Deaths 72 78 Marriages 76 S9 Marriages in the Registrar's office:— June, 1918, 24; June, 1919, 25.
