Hawera, July 1. The tenth Dominion and Great Peace ' Winter Show was commenced in ba'J weatlier 'to-day. The show was fully - up ■to the standard of those of former : years, and was in all points woll worthy of t"he resourceful district from which the entries were drawn. The dairy which was well staged, naturally-forced one of the more important sections of tho show, and tho ■ exhibits both of'butter and cheese denoted tho excellent quality of Taranaki's staple products. The, entries this year are larger than ever, being only a few" short of 200, and tho'Dairy Commissioner's staff experienced a good deal of difficulty' in making the awards owing to :the quality of the produce being so uniformly good. Taranalu factories , were strongly represented, especially in .the olieese classes, and as briefly mentioned in'to-day's .'Dominion the Mangatoki was.; the moat;successful of them, securing two firsts and the magnificent Lons-dale-Cup. . The greatest prize-winner, however, was the Kexdalc, with threo firsts, a challenge cup, two gold medals, and a gold watch (for the maker).
