Paterson, of Gore; Sister V. R. Bayly, of Auckland; Sister J. E. Lewis, of Auckland;'and Sister J. M. Holmwood, of Pahiatua.,

Matron V. M. K. Mac Lean, R.R.C., who returned to New Zealand yesterday by the Prinzessin, was with the New Zealanders in Samoa and afterwards joined tho staff of the New Zealand General Hospital, Cairo. In recognition of, meritorious services during the months when out wouuded Now Zealanders were being taken from Gallipoli to Cairo she was mentioned in dispatches and awarded the decoration of. the Royal Red Cross, Second Class. After being for seven months on the staff of the No. 1 General Hospital, Brockenhurst. Matron Mac Loan was promoted to her . present rank and took'over the Convalescent' Hospital at Homchurch. In March, 1917, she was mentioned in dispatches and transferred to the more, important post of matron at No. 1 General Hospital, Brocljenhurst, where, after receiving the order of-the. Royal Red Cross, 'First Class, she remained until her departure for New Zealand. Matron MacLean is returning to her homo in Hunterville.

The death occurred recently in Auckland of..Mrs. Flora Derrom. one of tho first white children born in Auckland. Tho deceased'was aged 75 years. Mrs. Derrom was born in Auckland in 18-11, and resided there till her death. She was the dau/ghter of the lato Mr. J. M'L'eocl, who arrived in Auckland in 1839, and the" widow of tho lato Major Derrom, Now Zealand Militia, who predeceased her 20 yo|irs ago, The late Mrs. Derrom had been ah invalid for 18 years. She is survived by two daughters, and one sonCaptain R. J. Derrom, recently returned from active service in Franco.

Countess of Liverpool Fund Meeting. ' A meeting of tho Mayoress's Countess of Liverpool Fund Committee was held at the Town Hall yesterday morning, the Mayoress (Mrs. J. P. Luke) presiding. All members wero present, with the exception of Mrs. Townoend, who sent an apology for absence. The principal business of tho meeting was to discuss a resolution that was- passed at the previous meeting on .June 9 to the effect that ."tho Countess of Liverpool Fund Committee undertake the whole responsibility. financial and otherwise, of meeting transports and supplying the men with fruit and cigarettes. After the matter had been placed before the meeting it was decided to rescind the resolution and instead to hand over the remainder of the funds to tho War Relief Society. As an organisation, the Countess of Liverpool Fund Committee noiv ceases to exist in AVellingtou. Since' the armistice tho committee had handed over to the Mayor and his committee the sum of £400, and J3UO had also been expended upon two troopships, tho men having been supplied and provided with fruit and' tobacco.
