TO D.C.M. WINNERS
A SPECIAL MONEY GRANT.
A soldier awarded the Distinguished Conduct' Medal is to be p&id a gratuity of ,£2O on promotion to a. commission in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, or on discharge without If' discharged with a'pension, he is eligible for an additional 6d. a day. If a temporary pension only is granted, the additional Bd.' a day will be paid during the currency of the temporary'pension,'; and if. at the expiry thereof, the full amount o| the gratuity (,£2O) lias not been paid b(- way of pension, tho balance will be paid in the form of a'gratuity.
No additional gratuity is paid in resuect of tho award of a Bar to the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
Those entitled to receive the abor# should. make application'direct to the oiiiccr in charge, of Waf Expenses, Wellington. In the cases of soldiers now deceased who trero awarded the D.C.M., the amount of. the gratuity'payable will be credited to. their estates.
It should bo noted : that neither the Military Medal nor the Meritorious Service Medil carry any gratuity. .
